Who can sign-up for your virtual cultural workshops?2021-06-10T10:59:21-07:00

You must be fully registered as a Chugach shareholder or descendant to participate in the virtual cultural workshops. Note: There may be workshops require a specific blood quantum.

If NSC rules are violated during and a participant must leave the camp, who is responsible for additional travel costs?2021-05-10T16:28:54-07:00

If a participant has violated a Nuuciq Spirit Camp rule and must leave camp, additional travel costs will be at their own expense.

Is there a maximum number of people allowed during each NSC session?2021-05-10T16:28:33-07:00

Yes, there is a maximum capacity of 115 attendees per week. This includes staff, volunteers and camp participants. 

Are travel costs covered for those attending Nuuciq Spirit Camp?2021-05-10T16:28:07-07:00

Yes, travel costs are covered from the seven communities within the Chugach Region (Valdez, Cordova, Seward, Tatitlek, Chenega, Nanwalek and Port Graham) with Anchorage being a hub. If you live outside of one of the seven communities/Anchorage you must cover the travel expenses on your own to one of the communities and/or Anchorage.

Will receiving other scholarship funds from other sources affect my eligibility to apply for CHF scholarships?2021-05-10T16:26:42-07:00

No. Students who are receiving funds from other sources, may still apply for scholarship funds. CHF does send award letters to each school that states if there are any CHF funds remaining after tuition/program costs have been paid, those funds may be released to the student.

Eligible lineal descendants or siblings of CAC or CHF board members/executives are not eligible to apply for scholarship funding through CHF. However, individuals may submit applications with CAC Shareholder Development. Please reach out to their offices at 907-563-8866, or email shareholderdevelopment@chugach.com.

Yes. Applicants must submit a new application for each term they are planning to enroll in. Applications must be submitted by the appropriate deadline.

Are spouses of shareholders or descendants eligible to apply for a scholarship?2021-05-10T16:24:17-07:00

Spouses must be a Chugach Alaska Corporation Original Shareholder or direct lineal descendant. If an individual does not meet this requirement, they are not eligible to apply for CHF scholarship programs.

Applicants who have been approved for an award can find their award details on their CHF scholarship account. Award details include award amount, award date, and check number.

I was approved for a scholarship. Will I receive the funds directly?2021-05-10T16:23:29-07:00

No. When CHF awards a scholarship, those funds are sent directly to the school/educational institution.

I am enrolled over the summer term. Can I apply for College scholarship funding?2021-05-10T16:23:03-07:00

Yes. Students may apply for scholarship funding during the summer terms. However, CHF has scholarship funding limits per academic year. If a student has reached the funding maximum during an academic year, they will not be eligible to receive additional scholarship funding for the summer term.

CHF scholarship programs are only available to Chugach Alaska Corporation Original Shareholders & direct lineal descendants.

Can I apply for different CHF scholarships at one time?2021-05-10T16:19:51-07:00

Yes. Individuals may submit applications for multiple scholarship programs at one time. Example: Someone may be enrolled part-time and apply under the College scholarship program while also taking a separate vocational certificate course. In that case, they can submit another application under the Vocational scholarship program at the same time.

I am over the age of 18 and I am interested in attending the Nuuciq Spirit Camp. Can I attend?2021-05-10T16:27:47-07:00

Yes, although you are over the age of 18 you can still apply to attend Nuuciq Spirit Camp (must be fully registered as a CAC descendant). There are a few different areas you may apply for: camp attendant (picking up/taking out the trash, help load/unload groceries, pick up/drop off attendees’ luggage, etc.), volunteer (kitchen, laundry, traditional counselor assistant, etc.), traditional counselor (teaching a culturally relevant class), and kitchen assistant (help prepare meals).
